Grillaholics, it is now midsummer. I hope your grills have been blazing hot. I hope your barbecue has turned out perfectly. I hope you have been satisfied with all your summer cookouts and trying new recipes. But most of all, I hope you’ve remembered to maintain your grill. You wouldn’t want your wonderful summer grilling to come to an abrupt end now, would you? But don’t worry! Grillaholics HQ has you covered and I’m going to tell you exactly how to maintain your grill to finish out the rest of the summer, strong.
How to maintain your gas grill:
-
Check for leaks.
You should be checking your grill for leaks about once a month. To test your grill for a leak, turn the propane tank on and run soapy water along the hose and hookups. If it begins to bubble you have a leak. Before you completely replace the line, try tightening the connection. If it still bubbles, it’s time for a new one. -
Keep the grill covered.
This one may seem like a no-brainer. But if you are one of those people who doesn’t cover your grill (I used to be!) then you may face problems in the future.
Covering the grill protects it from rusting or receiving further damage from the elements. It will also help it stay cleaner because, let’s face it, cleaning the outside of the grill can be a bitch. So save yourself time and money in the long run and purchase your grill’s cover! -
Spot clean after each use.
If you are using the grill frequently, which you should be, you need to be rubbing down the grates after each use and giving them a good scrub every few months.
Avoid using elbow grease the next time you light up your grill by taking your grill brush to the grates while they are still hot! This way the remaining food will not have time to cool down and stick to the grates. It will fall right off.
A way to avoid food build-up on the grates entirely is by purchasing one of our Grill Mats!
The Grillaholics Grill Mat can withstand temperatures up to 500°F and are dishwasher safe so that cleaning is a breeze.
They are thin enough to make sure you get those delectable grill lines, but they will keep the food from falling through!

Grillaholics Mesh Grill Mat
The Grillaholics Mesh Grill Mat provides all the benefits of a traditional non stick grill mat, but features a mesh pattern that ensures juices don’t pool - meaning you’ll get crispy skin on your chicken instead of a soggy mess.
The mesh design also makes this grill mat perfect for smoking meats as it allows more direct meat to smoke contact!
Still want grill marks? You’ve got ‘em. Need it to be easy to clean? Just toss it in the dishwasher! Need to sear meat? The mesh grill mat will withstand up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Plenty hot enough to grill burgers or sear a steak.
