Jalapeño-Lime Cranberry Sauce: A Sweet & Spicy Thanksgiving Twist

Posted by Grillaholics on

Jalapeño-Lime Cranberry Sauce with lime, jalapeño, and festive holiday styling

Traditional cranberry sauce is great. But sometimes you want something with a little more personality. Meet Jalapeño-Lime Cranberry Sauce: bright, tart cranberries, fresh lime, honey, and a little jalapeño heat.

We dreamed up this combination as a Thanksgiving side for our Tequila Honey Lime Turkey Brine. It's a way to give the holiday table some new flavor without making things complicated.

Jalapeño-Lime Cranberry Sauce

Prep: 10 min  |  Cook: 15 min  |  Chill: 1 hour  |  Serves: 6–8

Ingredients

  • 12 oz fresh or frozen cranberries
  • ½ cup water
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 medium jalapeño, finely diced (remove seeds and membranes for less heat)
  • Zest of 1 lime
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Combine cranberries, water, sugar, honey, and diced jalapeño in a medium saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries begin popping.
  3. Reduce the heat slightly. Simmer for approximately 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until most cranberries burst and the sauce begins to thicken.
  4. Remove from heat. Stir in lime zest, lime juice, and salt.
  5. Once slightly cooled, taste and adjust with a little extra honey or lime juice, if desired.
  6. Cool, cover, and refrigerate for at least an hour. The sauce will thicken further as it chills.

Behind the Flavor

Bright cranberry and lime balance the sweetness of honey, while jalapeño adds an optional gentle kick. Adjust the heat to suit your table.

Simmer Until Glossy

Most cranberries should burst as the mixture cooks. Stir occasionally and watch for the sauce to thicken slightly; it will continue to set in the fridge.

Make It Your Own

More heat: Add more diced jalapeño. Sweeter: Add honey by the teaspoon. Smoother: Carefully blend the cooled sauce for a sweet-heat spread.

Make It Ahead

Prepare a day or two before Thanksgiving, cover, and refrigerate. Keep refrigerated and use within five days.

A New Thanksgiving Tradition

We designed these flavors to accompany our new Tequila Honey Lime Turkey Brine.
